Gabriella Hunt of the Castleton University field hockey team was named North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 17.

After posting two goals to help lead Castleton to a pair of road victories, Rylee Nichols of the Castleton women's soccer team was named North Atlantic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week on Sept. 18, 2017

Since President Wolk arrived at Castleton in 2001, it has been his practice to select a Commuter Student of the Semester, an award that also comes with a special parking space--his--and an honor that can be added to a resume!

Castleton University congratulates the graduates from May 2017. The following students recently graduated Castleton University and were recognized during the 230th commencement on May 13.

Congratulations to the 29 Castleton University student-athletes who were named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Winter/Spring All-Academic Team.

The following students were named to the Castleton University President's List for the spring semester of the 2016-17 academic year. To qualify for this highest academic honor, the student must maintain full-time status and a semester grade point average of 4.0.

The following students were named to the Castleton University Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2016-17 academic year. To qualify for this academic honor, the student must maintain full-time status and a semester grade point average of 3.5.

The Leonard C. Goldman Distinguished Senior Award is an annual honor given to the graduating senior who has excelled in and out of the classroom, contributed to community service, and served as an example to others.

The Plato Prize is awarded to a student with the best essay in philosophy during the academic year and is sponsored by Castleton's Philosophy Department and Chief Academic Officer. The competition is open to all Castleton students.

Students volunteered their time to lobby at the Vermont State House for Disability Awareness Month with the members of ARC-RA, an organization devoted to the community inclusion of people with developmental disabilities. During their time at the State House the students listened to families petition legislators, met with legislators, and provided support to members of ARC-RA as they practiced speaking to their representatives.

Special Olympics Junior Athletes is a seven-week program that welcomes children ages 2-7 of all abilities to engage in physical activity. Castleton students serve as coaches, setting up the gym with various gross motor activities, encouraging students to participate, and if necessary working individually with students whose behavioral or physical needs warranted additional assistance.

This award is given annually to a student who has contributed time, dedication and enthusiasm to the senior class as well as to the Castleton University community.

The Academic Excellence Award is given annually to a student who is deemed the top student in his or her major.

This award is given annually to a first-year Theatre major who has proven him/herself both academically and theatrically, displayed a passion for theatre, respect for fellow students and professors, and has shown immense dedication to both our department and the shows we produce.

This award is given annually to a Student Government Association delegate whose involvement in any aspect of the SGA that has shown outstanding devotion to their job, activity or position.

The Mary Ellen Evans Award is given annually to an outstanding female student-athlete who has played four year in one sport while also providing service to the college community.

This award is given annually to a Student Government Association delegate whose involvement in any aspect of the SGA that has shown outstanding devotion to their job, activity or position.

The Sharon Brown Memorial Award is given annually to a female student athlete. They must relate well to peers with a desire to excel and dedication to their team. They have shown leadership, academic achievement and service to the community, as well as possibly playing more than one sport.

This award is given annually to the new student who has contributed time, dedication and enthusiasm to the Sophomore Class as well as to the Castleton University community.

This award is given annually to an upper class Acting and Directing major who has shown willingness to go above and beyond what is asked and expected of students both in class and performances, is dependable and responsible, and has fostered passion for theatre through other students.

This award is given annually to the new student who has contributed time, dedication and enthusiasm to the Junior Class as well as to the Castleton University community.

This award is given annually to an upper class Technical Theatre and Design major who has shown willingness to go above and beyond what is asked and expected of students both in class and performances, is dependable and responsible, and has fostered passion for theatre through other students.

This award is given annually to a non-traditional student that is active on campus, positive, ready to learn, and eager to help.

This award is given annually in recognition of his/her devotion to the welfare of the college and his/her outstanding performance as a campus leader.

This award is given annually to the new student who has contributed time, dedication and enthusiasm to the Freshman Class as well as to the Castleton University community.

The John Young Memorial Award is given annually to a male or female basketball player at Castleton. They must have displayed leadership throughout their career, outstanding offensive abilities and a positive attitude, along with a possible interest in coaching.

The Rocky Mezzetta Award is given annually to an outstanding male student-athlete who has shown a determination so succeed while being a coachable team leader with a desire to continually improve.

This award is given annually to the top male varsity athlete and the top female varsity athlete. The individuals must have shown leadership, determination, sportsmanship, coachability, willingness to give of oneself, and have a sense of responsibility to the team, coach, and university throughout the year.
