Graduates of the Student Support Network have completed 7 weeks of intensive training on peer support methods and best practices. Having graduated, students are equipped to support peers in both campus and community settings.

McNair Scholars at Castleton University take classes on graduate-level research methods, as well as receive advising on aspects of the graduate school application process and all related facets of higher education that they are likely to encounter. Scholars also complete a summer research project under the guidance of a faculty mentor and are provided the opportunity to visit schools and attend and/or present at scholarly research conferences.

Each year, the Vermont State Colleges System appoints one student representative to the Board of Trustees. Students who fill this one-year term are elected by the Vermont State Colleges System Student Association, which serves as the SGA for all of the colleges and universities within the VSCS. The Board of Trustees provides leadership and governance at the system level, addressing issues of funding, sustainability, accessibility, affordability, and student retention and completion.

The Phi Alpha Theta National History Society Upper New York Regional Conference features presentations by undergraduate and recently graduated history students on a variety of different topics and time periods in history. Prizes are awarded to the best student papers in varying session.
