Heiberg Consulting Student Access Scholarship

The Heiberg Consulting Student Access Scholarship is awarded annually to students who use the services offered by academic support programs, such as the Castleton Academic Support Center. Academic counselors nominate students from their universities and winners are chosen in a regional competition, which recognizes academic potential and students who have overcome significant barriers to pursue higher education.

The Sigma Beta Delta Scholarship is selected on criteria including academic strength, community involvement, educational and career aspirations, and the difference receiving a scholarship would mean in their life. The honor society awards approximately 30 scholarships nationally that range from $1,000 to $1,500.

Academic Recognition Scholarship

Academic Recognition Scholarships are given to first-year students who have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and are nominated by their First Year Seminar professor. These students will receive an annual scholarship, enrollment in Honors courses during the sophomore year, the option to live in Honors housing, and eligibility to serve on the Honors Council.

Castleton senior Josh Barnhart, a dual Spanish and Criminal Justice major, will spend the fall semester surrounded by the deep-rooted culture, native language and architecture of Cusco, Peru after recently being named the recipient of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, a prestigious national study abroad scholarship.

Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship

The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program places recent college graduates and young professionals as English teaching assistants in primary and secondary schools and universities overseas. The program aims to strengthen foreign students' English language abilities and knowledge of the United States, while allowing program participants to gain from intensive cross-cultural interaction and international educational opportunities provided at the host institution. Since its inception in 1946, the Fulbright program has provided more than 300,000 participants, chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential, with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.
