Castleton University names Dr. Thomas Mauhs-Pugh as Provost

Castleton, VT (08/19/2019) — Castleton is pleased to announce Dr. Thomas Mauhs-Pugh has joined the University as Provost.

In this role, Dr. Mauhs-Pugh will act as chief academic officer and oversee all of the University's academic affairs.

Additionally, Dr. Jonathan Spiro will serve as dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Cathy Kozlik and Dr. Peter Kimmel have been appointed to serve as interim deans of the College of Business and the College of Health and Sciences, respectively.

His academic credentials, leadership experience, analytical approach to institutional research and student retention, and commitment to innovation will help us to grow to the next level," said Castleton University President Dr. Karen M. Scolforo.

The addition of Dr. Mauhs-Pugh allows Castleton to enhance the capacity of its academic leadership as it embarks on ambitious initiatives to ensure future growth and success. Those initiatives include new sites in Bennington and Killington, the implementation of a new learning management system, and new academic programs, all of which will be launched this fall.

Dr. Mauhs-Pugh brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience to Castleton. He joins Castleton after 21 years at Green Mountain College, where he served as provost and vice president of academic affairs for the past five years. Previous to being provost at GMC, Dr. Mauhs-Pugh held a number of administrative and faculty positions, including dean of faculty.
