Wershoven Garners CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors
2017 Jan 23
Castleton women's soccer standout Nicole Wershoven was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division III Academic All-America Third Team on Friday afternoon, three weeks after being named to CoSIDA's Division III Academic All-District Team.
Wershoven is the only representative from the North Atlantic Conference on any of the three Academic All-America Teams, as well as the only player from a New England institution to receive the honor.
The senior started in 20 of Castleton's 21 games this season, and provided one assist from her defensive position. Wershoven is a leader on and off the field for the Spartans, and is a Biology major with a concentration in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine with a minor in Chemistry. She serves as the President of the Pre-Med Club and is a teacher's assistant for several classes. The Pre-Med student is a leading example of what it means to be a Division III student-athlete by making the most out of her undergraduate experience.
