Vincent Guerrera, along with other students who participated in the Spring Senior Documentary Workshop class taught by Communication Professor Bob Gershon, was recently recognized for their creativity, professionalism and video production skills after ranking highly in the Freedom and Unity TV 2015 Youth Film Competition.

The Freedom and Unity TV initiative works to support Vermont youth filmmakers. The competition is designed to capture local stories and features from the point of view of aspiring film directors and producers, while showcasing the talent of young video professionals under 30.

Castleton student productions were awarded both first and second place in the category of Documentary from the age group of 18-25.

Taking home first place was Brewers First, which takes viewers inside Vermont's beer culture, directed by Christopher Williams and produced by Stephen Andolfo, Spencer Dandurand, Nicole Irwin and James Britt.

Second place in the category was taken by VTrees, directed by Jacob Covell and produced by Devin Clark, Matt Woodward, Vincent Guerrera and Aaron Wallace. The documentary explores various aspects of legalization in Vermont through people, politicians and police enforcement.

Winning submissions received varying prize money amounts.
