Steven Jurkiewicz Named NAC Pitcher of the Week

After helping the Spartans begin the 2016 season with a 3-3 mark, junior Steven Jurkiewicz of Essex Jct., VT was honored as the North Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference.

Jurkiewicz has posted a 1-0 mark in two appearances this year. The southpaw came on in relief in the season-opening loss at N.C. Wesleyan, giving up two runs from one hit in two innings of work. Two days later, he tossed nine innings of one-run baseball to snap the Spartans' three-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory at Averett. Jurkiewicz allowed 13 hits in the start, but gave up no walks and struck out four to grab his first win of the year.

This marks the second time that Jurkiewicz has received pitcher of the week honors from the NAC.
