Seven Castleton Players earn Second Team All-ECFC

Seven Castleton players earned Second Team All-ECFC honors: senior defensive back Mark Alberque, senior linebacker Darren Callan, sophomore quarterback Mitchell Caron, junior offensive lineman Eric Decker, junior defensive lineman Matt Lawhorn, senior offensive lineman Jordan Stone, and junior linebacker Jakob Trautwein.

Pelz-Walsh led the ECFC and currently ranks in the top 100 in the country in receptions per game (6.1), total receiving yards (785), receiving yards per game (78.5), and receiving touchdowns (nine). He caught at least five passes in eight games this season and accumulated over 100 receiving yards four times during the year.

On offense, Caron took over as Castleton's starting quarterback in the third game of the season and helped the Spartans post their third consecutive winning record in conference play. He led the league with 245.6 passing yards per game, finished second with 12 passing touchdowns, and also collected five rushing touchdowns, fifth-best in the ECFC.

Decker and Stone played a significant role in the improvement of the Spartan offense throughout the season, leading an offensive line that did not allow a sack in four of the final six games of the year. Doton caught 11 passes for 155 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown pass at Mount Ida.

Defensively, Trautwein and Callan finished 1-2 in the league in tackles per game, with Trautwein setting a Castleton single-season record with 142 total tackles and currently sitting second in the country with 14.2 tackles per game. Callan became Castleton's all-time tackles leader with 338 tackles and remains in fourth place in the country with 14.1 tackles per game.

Alberque finished in a tie for fourth place with a team-high three interceptions to go along with 54 total tackles, fifth on the team. Lawhorn enjoyed his best collegiate season, finishing the year with 23 total tackles, including a sack in the season opener against Plymouth State, as well as two pass breakups.
