Rylee Nichols Named NAC Player, Rookie of the Week

After posting two goals to help lead Castleton to a pair of road victories, Rylee Nichols of the Castleton women's soccer team has been named North Atlantic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, announced Monday afternoon, Sept. 18, by the league office.

Nichols set the tone early for the Spartans with her first career goal just six minutes into the match at New England College, giving her team an early 1-0 lead in its first conference contest of the season. The freshman followed that up with the lone Spartan goal at Eastern Connecticut State, tying the match at 1-1 in the second half to help send it to overtime against one of the top teams in the New England Region. Eastern Connecticut State went undefeated in Little East Conference play during the 2016 regular season and finished ranked No. 12 in New England. Nichols was an offensive force throughout the entire week, firing eight total shots, including five on goal.

This is the first career Player and Rookie of the Week honor for Nichols, who is now second on the team with four points on the season.
