Rylant Earns ECAC & NAC Player of the Week Honors

The Castleton baseball team received more recognition for its performances last week, as Josh Rylant has been named NAC & ECAC Player of the Week.

Rylant made an immediate impact for the Spartans, helping the team to a 7-1 record on the week to secure the No. 1 seed in the North Atlantic Conference tournament. He batted .421 (8-for-19) with four runs scored, three doubles, two RBI, and two stolen bases. Rylant enjoyed three multi-hit performances in six games on the week, including a 3-for-3 effort with three runs scored in a 6-1 win at Husson. The junior haunted the Eagles over the weekend sweep, batting .583 (7-for-12) with three runs scored, two doubles, and two RBI - both of which proved to be the game-winning runs in a pair of late-inning victories. On Saturday at Husson, he drove in the go-ahead run on a single up the middle in the top of the seventh to lead the Spartans to a 2-1 victory. Less than 24 hours later, Rylant sparked the offense with his late heroics once again, driving in the only run of the game on an RBI double in the top of the seventh to give the Spartans a 1-0 victory.
