Rachel Bombardier Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Rachel Bombardier was recently named CoSIDA Academic All-District for her efforts on the field and in the classroom.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence on the field and in the classroom. The District Teams are divided into eight geographic locations and further delineated by Division I, II & III. Each individual to who receives All-District honors will advance to the All-America ballot. The At-Large team this year was made of 11 individual from six different sports. Bombardier was the only student-athlete from the NAC and the only from a public college or university to made the District 1 Team.

Bombardier is a two-time All-Conference selection in lacrosse and also spent four years as a forward on the women's ice hockey team. This past winter she appeared in all 27 hockey games as a forward, finishing with seven assists and three goals for ten points. On the lacrosse field she made the switch from goalie to defense this spring, playing in 11 games while starting the last six, with 16 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. She earned All-Conference honors in 2014 and 2015 as a goalie and owns a career 14-5 record with a 53.4 save percentage and 8.97 GAA.

In the classroom, the senior owns a 3.99 GPA as a Exercise Science major and Statistics minor. This year she was named the most outstanding student in the Natural Science Department and won the Sharon Brown Memorial Award, as well as the NAC Women's Lacrosse Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. Bombardier has been named to the President's List five times and is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She also serves as an EMT in the greater Rutland Region.
