Louis Alhage Named Castleton College Mentor of the Week

2014 Mar 18

Castleton College student Louis Alhage was recently named the Castleton College Mentor of the Week.

A New Milford resident and Exercise Science major, Alhage was awarded this distinction by fellow Castleton mentors for the extraordinary encouragement and support he provided to a fourth grade student during weekly informal meetings. The Castleton College volunteer mentoring program matches Castleton undergraduates with local fourth and fifth grade students from the Castleton Village School. During weekly informal meetings throughout the academic year, the college student role models provide social support and encouragement for the children to aspire to attend college.

"We share a love for sports and being super hyper," said Alhage, "So when I went to his birthday party we had a blast, we had a great time playing around!"

Alhage is excited to spend another year with his mentee and he recommends college students everywhere to join a mentoring program.

"This program not only helps the mentee by giving them someone to look up to, but gives the mentors a sense of accomplishment," he said.
