Kyle Lutinski Named NAC Men's Lacrosse Player of Week

2017 Apr 28

After leading Castleton University with 13 assists and 18 total points over the past week, sophomore Kyle Lutinski has been named the North Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

Earning his first start of the season last Monday at Thomas, Lutinski dished out a career-high six assists, three in the second quarter and three in the third quarter. Also, he established personal career highs with nine ground balls and three caused turnovers in Castleton's 14-1 victory.

The next day, Lutinski earned two goals and three assists through the first 32 minutes of the game against MIT as Castleton took a 9-6 lead, then he assisted on two more Spartan goals late in the third quarter as Castleton pulled to within three at 15-12, finishing with a career-high seven points.

Saturday, Lutinski assisted on Castleton's first goal of the game, scored the go-ahead goal early in the second quarter, and picked up one more goal and one more assist midway through the third quarter as the Spartans pulled away for a 21-6 victory over Husson. He ended the week by scoring Castleton's first goal of the third quarter as well as picking up three ground balls against SUNY Potsdam Sunday.

Despite missing the first four games of the season due to injury, Lutinski is second on the squad with 14 assists and fourth on the team with 19 total points. He is also ninth on the squad with 17 ground balls so far this season.

This is the second weekly conference award in Lutinski's career, as he received NAC Rookie of the Week honors during the first week of April last season after collecting nine points in Spartan victories over SUNY Canton and Maine-Farmington. This is the third weekly conference award for Castleton this season, as Brandon Myron has been named NAC Defensive Player of the Week twice so far this year.
