Kirk, Kingdon Land ECAC First Team All-Star Honors

2017 Jan 20

After landing North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors, respectively, Thomas Kirk and Jack Kingdon of the Castleton men's soccer team have been named ECAC First Team All-Stars.

Kirk had a strong sophomore season for the Spartans, helping anchor a back line that posted the second-lowest goals allowed (6) and goals against average (0.67) in conference action. The defender was instrumental in helping Castleton concede less than one goal per game on average in NAC games. Impressively, Kirk and his teammates allowed just three or less shots on goal in six of the team's nine conference games. Kirk also chipped in on offense, taking a handful of the team's free kicks. He tallied one goal and one assist this year for the Spartans, with his only score of the season being the game-winner against Maine Maritime to help his squad lock up the No. 2 seed in the NAC Championship Tournament.

Kingdon finished his stellar debut season leading the team with nine goals, six assists and 24 points. The rookie tallied one game-winner while scoring eight goals in NAC action. He finished among the NAC's top five in goals and points, and averaged more than two points per game in NAC play. His .214 shooting percentage ranked sixth in the conference among players registering more than 25 shots, while his 29 shots on goal were seventh in the conference.
