Kevin Alberque Named Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year

Castleton senior Kevin Alberque was dynamic for the Spartans all year and was recently honored as the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the fall 2014 football season.

The wide receiver was one of Castleton's 13 All-Conference honorees as announced by the ECFC.

Alberque's selection marks the third time a Spartan has been selected ECFC Offensive Player of the Year, joining Shane Brozowski who earned the honors in 2010 and then again in 2012. Alberque also was selected to the All-Conference First-Team as a wide receiver and return specialist. He was joined on the first team by George Busharis and Jordan Goodrich. Eric Decker, Jordan Tolar,Brett Denning and Eric Mimnaugh all earned ECFC Second-Team honors. Darren Callan, Tyler Combs, Zachary Howe,Derek McAdoo, Nicholas Romeo and Ryan Stanek were named honorable mention.

This year Alberque did a bit of everything for the conference's second best offense, including leading the entire ECFC in receptions (53), yards (861) and ranking second in touchdowns (6). He had 209 more receiving yards than any other wideout while also churning out 209 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Alberque ranks 17th nationally and first in the ECFC with 165.8 all-purpose yards per game, and is also the only player in the nation with at least 200 rushing yards, 200 receiving yards, 200 punt return yards and 200 kick return yards.
