Kenneth Bourneuf Named Castleton College Mentor of the Week

Castleton College student Kenneth Bourneuf was recently named the Castleton College Mentor of the Week.

A Williston resident and Education major, Bourneuf was awarded this distinction by his fellow mentors for the extraordinary encouragement and support he provided to a local elementary school student during informal weekly meetings.

The Castleton College volunteer mentoring program matches Castleton undergraduates with local fourth and fifth grade students from the Castleton Village School. During weekly informal meetings throughout the academic year, the college student role models provide social support and encouragement for the children to aspire to attend college.

"My mentee and I have a lot in common. We both are into athletics and I think that interest is what bonds us," said Bourneuf, who is also a member of the varsity lacrosse team. "We talk about deep things like life goals and his everyday experiences. I feel like I'm his big brother."
