Kayla Wood Named NAC Pitcher of the Week

Following some impressive performances last week, sophomore Kayla Wood of E Dummerston, VT was today honored as the North Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Wood was dominant last week for the Spartans, recording at least one out in five of the team's six games. She went 2-1 with a save, tossing 20.1 innings and giving up just two earned runs, while striking out 18 batters for an impressive 0.69 ERA. The sophomore's biggest win of the week came against Husson, as she went 9.0 innings and allowed just one run while striking out ten as Castleton won the game on a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth. Wood earned her other win by tossing 4.0 innings of relief in a 9-1 victory over Keene State, giving up two hits and striking out three.

For the year she has a 0.82 ERA in 60.0 innings pitched with eight wins and 68 strikeouts. This is the fourth time in five weeks she has earned NAC Pitcher of the Week honors.
