Kayla Wood Named NAC First Team All-Conference

2016 May 5

Castleton's softball team landed five players on the North Atlantic Conference First Team on Wednesday afternoon, including junior pitcher Kayla Wood, of E Dummerston, VT.

Wood, who earned the honor for the second year in a row, ranked among the best in the NAC in six major pitching categories, including league-leading marks in shutouts (3), saves (2), ERA (0.81) and batting average against (.160). Her six wins in conference play ranked her third in the NAC, while she was the only pitcher to record double-digit strikeouts per game in conference play, at 11.22. Wood's 0.54 ERA in NAC action was more than one full run better than any opposing pitcher's, and she struck out the second-most batters in the fifth-most innings. She also ranks among the top 10 in the nation in ERA, hits allowed per seven innings and strikeouts per seven innings.

NAC All-Conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches.
