Josselyn Swett Presents at Popular Culture Association Conference

2016 Mar 9

Castleton University student Josselyn Swett is attending and presenting at the national Popular Culture Association conference in Seattle, Washington, on March 23-26.

The Popular Culture Association is a large and diverse scholarly organization dedicated to the academic understanding of a variety of popular cultural expressions. The meeting is their annual conference, jointly offered with the American Culture Association. Most of the conference presenters are professors or graduate students, making the event an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate student to participate in the process of research on a professional level.

Josselyn will be presenting a paper based on the Enflish honors Thesis that she completed in Fall 2016. It is on Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, a gothic novel that was originally published in 1958. Her paper is entitled, "The Psychology of a Mad House: Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House." It will be presented as part of a panel on the American Gothic.
