Grandon Smith Lands NAC Runner of the Week Honors

Coming off a stellar performance at the eight-kilometer UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, Grandon Smith from Newtown of the Castleton men's cross country team has earned North Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week honors, announced Monday afternoon, Sept. 18, by the league office.

Smith continued his stellar start to the season, once again establishing his best 8K time of the year with a time of 25:42 at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, good for ninth overall out of 315 runners across each NCAA Division. He eclipsed his previous season-best time by 47 seconds and finished just 19 seconds off the lead. Smith's top individual performance led Castleton to a 25th place finish as a team in the 40-team race.

This is the second time Smith has been recognized as NAC Runner of the Week in 2017.
