Grandon Smith Garners NAC Runner of the Week Honors

After claiming the eight-kilometer Vermont State Meet individual title on Sept. 30, Grandon Smith of the Castleton men's cross country team, a native of Newtown, has been named North Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week, announced Monday afternoon, Oct. 2, by the league office.

Smith's first-place finish was his third individual crown this season as he paced the field of 60 runners to the finish line with a time of 26:42.0, which was over 16 seconds faster than second-place finisher from nationally-ranked host Middlebury. Smith's top spot helped lead the Spartans to a fourth-place finish out of six squads at the meet.

This is the third time Smith has earned NAC Runner of the Week honors this season.
