Devin Hayes Named NAC Pitcher of the Week

After helping the Spartans improve to 12-8 overall and 5-4 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), sophomore Devin Hayes of Vergennes, VT was honored as the NAC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Hayes started twice this past week for Castleton, allowing just two runs (zero earned) in 13 innings pitched. He started off the week by tossing six innings with two runs allowed (zero earned) and a career-high nine strikeouts in a 3-2 loss at New England College. He followed that up with a stellar performance on Sunday, as he threw a complete game shutout with five strikeouts to lead Castleton to a 3-0 victory at first-place Husson. The sophomore is now 2-0 on the season after recording a 3.90 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched.
