Deagan Poland Named NAC Rookie of the Week

After leading the Spartans to their third consecutive North Atlantic Conference Championship, Deagan Poland, of Williston, VT, earned NAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Poland was phenomenal throughout the entire NAC Championship Tournament, earning All-Tournament honors after batting .467 (7-for-15) and driving in a pair of runs, while scoring three times. In the tournament-opener against Thomas, the rookie was 1-for-4 out of the leadoff spot. In Saturday's marathon win against Husson, Poland went an impressive 5-for-7 with two runs and two RBI. One of his two RBI tied the game in the eighth inning to force extras, in which he earned his second run-scoring single of the day in the 12th to give his squad an insurance run, making it 7-5. In Sunday's NAC Championship Title Game, he was 1-for-4 once more, scoring what turned into the game-winning run for Castleton in a 6-5 victory.
