Darren Callan Named ECFC Defensive Player of the Week

After leading the Spartans to a 49-34 victory over Maritime, junior Darren Callan of Enosburg Falls, VT was named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Callan was dominant all over the field and helped limit Maritime to just seven second-half points in Castleton's win. The junior had a game-high 14 tackles, ten solo, with 1.5 stops for a loss. Callan also forced two fumbles, one of which was recovered by a teammate inside the Maritime 10-yard line, recovered a fumble and blocked a 42-yard field in the second quarter to keep the score tied 21-21. His blocked field goal and second forced fumble both led to Castleton touchdowns.
