Daniel Warnecke Named Commuter of the Semester

2016 Sep 16

At Fall Convocation, senior and Business Administration major, Daniel Warnecke was honored as the 2016 Fall Commuter of the Semester. Commuting to Castleton from Poultney, Warnecke was recognized for his involvements on campus and community engagement at home.

Warnecke holds a high GPA while working over 30 hours a week as a baker and cake designer. Despite balancing a full schedule, he still finds time to participate in on-campus activities and clubs, where he holds leadership roles as President of the Senior Class, Rotaract Club President, Senior Delegate for SGA, and active member of the Business Club.

At home, Warnecke involves himself with his local church. During the school year he serves as a volunteer lector at the church location, as well as helps out with small maintenance projects, such as gardening. During the spring and summer months, he completed an internship in marketing at the Mountain Top Inn and Resort, in hopes of building a career in hospitality.

"I like to be involved with a lot of different things. I think it's important to be involved within your community," said Warnecke. "I just love working with people, and it's something I've always been used to."

Castleton President Dave Wolk described Warnecke as an exemplary model of living by the Castleton Way.

"His enduring smile and caring personality make him the quintessential choice as the recipient of Commuter of the Semester," said Wolk.
