Chad Copeland Named NAC Men's Basketball Player of Week

For the Player of the Week award on 11/28/16 Copeland averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game, Copeland started the week with an 18-point performance against Plymouth State. Where he hit 7-of-12 field goal attempts against the Panthers, plus he pulled down four rebounds and earned one blocked shot.

At Southern Vermont, Copeland notched his 20th career collegiate double-double, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds in leading the Spartans to a 73-70 victory over the Mountaineers. During a 12-1 Castleton scoring run midway through the second half, Copeland hit consecutive jumpers to bring the Spartans within one, and then his layup with seven minutes remaining in regulation helped Castleton extend its lead.

For the Player of the week award on 1/2/17 Copeland shot 56 percent (14-of-25) from the field as he averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocked shots in Castleton's five-point victories over Stevens and Lehman. In the Spartans 62-57 victory over Stevens, Copeland finished with 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. Copeland hit two free throws with 10 seconds remaining in regulation to increase the Spartans' lead to three as Castleton held off Stevens down the stretch

The next night, Copeland led the Spartans with 15 points and eight rebounds as he hit 6-of-10 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 attempts from behind the three-point line. With Castleton ahead by just two points in the final minute of regulation, Copeland followed his own miss with a tip-in to increase that advantage to four points, and then blocked a Lehman shot with 19 seconds left to solidify the Spartan victory.
