Castleton Well-Represented on Men's Lacrosse All-NAC Teams

Brandon Myron of Wynantskill, NY, has been selected to the All-NAC team.

After finishing second in the North Atlantic Conference and earning a bye into the NAC Tournament semifinals, the Castleton University men's lacrosse team placed seven players on the various All-NAC postseason squads, as the results of the voting from the eight league coaches were announced Tuesday.

Three Spartans earned First Team All-NAC recognition, including senior midfielder Louis Alhage, an important part of the Castleton team both offensively and defensively. Alhage leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 28 assists, plus he has scored 18 goals so far this season. In addition, Alhage has caused 17 turnovers, capped with a season-high four caused turnovers in the regular season finale at Lyndon State.

Speaking of defense, junior defender Edward Doton also earned First Team All-NAC honors as he helped the Spartans hold conference opponents to just four goals per game. Doton caused two turnovers on five different occasions and picked up four ground balls twice: against Plymouth State on March 21 and at Lyndon State on April 25.

Junior Joshua Gosselin is the third Castleton player receiving First Team All-NAC honors as he occupies the faceoff specialist position on the conference-wide squad. Gosselin is 13th in the country in faceoff winning percentage at 68.2 percent (236-for-346) for all games, including 89.8 percent (132-for-147) in conference contests.

Three other Castleton players received Second Team All-NAC honors, including junior attacker Sam Siegel, the team leader in goals and points with 31 goals and 50 points. Sophomore long-stick midfielder Peyton Faasse led the Spartans with 19 caused turnovers to go along with 41 ground balls, fourth on the squad. Sophomore Brandon Myron took over as the starting goalie and finished the regular season with a 9.77 goals against average and 137 saves.

Senior Joey Gagne was named to the NAC Men's Lacrosse Sportsmanship Team, reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Gagne has played in 15 games so far this season for the Spartans, earning eight ground balls and five caused turnovers as he helped the Castleton defense post a team GAA of 8.74.
