Baker Tabbed as NAC Co-Player and Co-Rookie of the Week

After powering her team to a pair of victories on Sunday afternoon, Castleton softball freshman Sara Baker has been named the North Atlantic Conference Co-Player and Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon.

Baker had a big day at the plate for Castleton, lifting the team to a pair of wins in its only two games of the week. She opened the day with a 2-for-4 effort with three RBIs in a 13-5 win over Skidmore, before following that up with a 3-for-5 game and a pair of RBIs. Baker also notched her first career home run, a two-run shot, in game one, launching a no-doubt, two-out blast to left center field to help the Spartans come back from a one-run deficit on their way to victory. She also scored four runs over the course of two games and put the ball in play in all 10 plate appearances on the week. She slugged an impressive .889, and got on base in half of her plate appearances.

Baker shares the weekly honors with Husson's Tamara Aunchman, who went 8-for-13 in three games. This is the second time a Spartan has been honored by the conference this season, as Kayley Fountain was earlier named Rookie of the Week.
